Saw this ambulance going northbound on the Shaw underpass earlier tonight, around 6:51pm.
This guy had his blinkers and hazard lights on, but it was traffic so he wasn't going anywhere. But don't you think that if he really had an emergency, he would be weaving in and out of traffic, beeping his horn, flashing his lights and blaring his siren, trying to get to the patient to the hospital on time?
Anyway, this is outright abuse of authority and something should really be done about this.

That's nothing. In or near Cavite you regularly see municipal ambulances, sometimes a few of them, with their sirens on. And window open. And a couple of passengers can sometimes be seen from the back having a smoke (i.e. there's no "emergency"). They're typically Rosario, Cavite ambulances, although there's one Noveleta ambulance without a plate that I can single out.
The problem isn't the ambulance abuse itself, but if people stop trusting the emergency sirens.
That's true. But if they didn't abuse it in the first place, then the people would have no reason to doubt.
Anyway, I still give way to ambulances, or any other vehicles with sirens blaring, pass by. Or even cars who are flashing their signal lights. Just in case it's an emergency. Problem is, most of the time, you see that there really is no emergency.
