According to this article on ABS-CBNNews.com about the increase in toll rates on Coastal Road and STAR, SLEx is expected to implement a new round of rate hikes by March or April due to "road improvements".

Can anyone confirm this? Also, based on our understanding SLEx, starts after the Alabang interchange, right? Does this mean that the Nichols to Alabang (and vice-versa) rates won't be included in the increase?

Passed through the newly-opened northbound side of the Alabang Viaduct earlier today. At least, it'll help ease traffic for those going to Makati and the rest of northern Metro Manila, especially in the mornings. Hope they can finish the southbound side soon.

A traffic jam lasting four hours at the C5 exit of the SLEx was caused by 14 drivers who passed on the E-pass lane without an E-pass, prompting tollgate personnel to confiscate their licenses. The drivers, in turn, complained that SLEx personnel are not deputized by the PNP or the MMDA, giving them no authority to confiscate their driver's licenses.

C'mon, one or two or maybe even five of these may actually be unaware of the E-pass lane, but I'm pretty sure the rest were. They were just trying to get ahead of the line (which is typical Filipino mentality) and got caught doing it.

But only from 10pm of New Year's eve until 6am of New Year's day. This is actually an annual thing for them, and they do this for Christmas, New Year's and Good Friday.

Was supposed to post this before Christmas, but I wasn't sure what time they raise the bars. Remembered about it when I saw this article, so I'm posting it now.

Caught this Skyway Patrol bike cop overtaking on the shoulder on SLEX approaching the C5 off-ramp at around 7:54pm.

Just look at these two billboards on SLEX.
Isn't there an agency that's supposed to oversee the construction of these things? These are pretty dangerous considering the number of typhoons that we get every year.

This is good! Maybe this will lessen accidents resulting from sleepy drivers.
Kudos to the guy who came up with this idea!

These guys were running around 25kph on the middle lane of SLEX.
I know we should respect the dearly departed, but inconveniencing others is going too far.

Also, those stupid police escorts started sounding their sirens when traffic started to pile up right after the C5 bridge. Ano akala nila? Tatabi dapat lahat ng tao para sa kanila?

Why can't they fix the drainage on the Merville exit of the SLEX?
This causes drivers to slow down, swerve to the lane with the least water, and surprises drivers with the spray. Delikado! Sayang din yung tubig. Pati na din yung ginagamit pang linis ng kotse.

Not only is it a jeepney stop, it's also a major pedestrian crossing.
I wonder when the MMDA will do something about this? May outpost naman sila d'un sa harap nito'ng lugar na 'to.

Three separate vehicles stopped on southbound SLEX added to the traffic there around lunchtime.

First one was a taxi on the Magallanes flyover, second was a mini truck right after the C5 flyover and the third was another minitruck right after Bicutan.

Southbound SLEX was really bad beginning from where the yellow lane starts before the Sucat exit. This was caused by three separate incidents.

The first was a truck broken down right around the Sucat exit. A tow truck was already there, connecting the broken down truck to the harness.
The second was an accident between a bus and a Civic, just after the Sucat exit. A highway patrol guy was already there, and the bus just pulled to the side. To be honest about it, this was probably caused by these vehicles avoiding the broken down truck.
The last one was an accident on the West Service Rd. A truck had it's load fall down on the fence.The Filipino's penchant for being usi reigned, slowing down traffic even if the load did not really spill over much to the SLEX.

Just look at this example, taken on SLEX near the Nichols interchange.
Aside from being dangerous, these definitely add to the traffic.

Are road side garbage included in your cause? If yes, see this, if not it is ok, I will take pictures of some other motoring problems I see everyday.

I’ve actually written about this “squatter practice” in gov.ph REKLAMO portion and MMDA website but unfortunately NO ACTION is taking place…still everyday the same practice happens there…people living near the C5 flyover throws their garbage on their windows (maybe during the night) so every morning there are lots of garbage in that area , PNCC street sweeper cleans it everyday…authorities/Gov should tell those people to stop throwing their garbage there…sakit sa mata, talaga!
Glad to be a contributor here, it is my dream too to make Manila and the Philippines “a better place to live in” for our childrens sake…even not for me.

Maybe later you guys can expand the website to accommodate all “ills” of our society not just specific on roads, but I think that is a “tall” order, starting from something small is better than nothing at all!

This truck, seen stopped in the middle of SLEX right before the Merville exit around 12:51pm, didn't really cause any traffic. However, fast moving vehicles coming off the curve were seen caught off guard by it.
Anyway, a tow truck was already at hand to take it away.

It was kinda traffic northbound on SLEX this afternoon because of a couple of accidents.

First, a Ford F-150 rear ended a Toyota Vios midway between Alabang and Sucat.
The next one involved a Toyota Revo and a Kia AUV near Shell Magallanes.
Anyway, kawawa naman sila. But a little caution while driving and getting regular maintenance for your vehicle really goes a long way in reducing the chances of getting into one.

The stretch of SLEX between Pasay Rd. and the Magallanes flyover is really dangerous, due to the high number of pedestrians crossing the highway.
I wonder why the local government doesn't just build a pedestrian overpass for these people.

Seen heading southbound on SLEX around 9:16am this morning. Clearly another case of a cop ignoring the law for his own convenience.
