They should really find a better way to do this as the traffic they cause can get quite bad.
Anyway, aren't these smoke belchers caught during registration? Maybe they should just concentrate their efforts on making sure that the emissions test is corruption-free.

Saw this truck on Sucat Rd. at around 5:09pm today.
The smoke was so bad, you couldn't even see the plate number.

This HM Transport bus (bus number A-76), seen northbound on SLEX at 2:48pm today, was definitely contributing to the deterioration of our environment.

Saw another anti-smoke belching campaign on MMDA's favorite place on EDSA, northbound between Ayala and EDSA.
Commendable, as long as hindi nila pinagkikitaan.

Here are some more vehicles caught smoke belching this morning. The first one is a Toyota Corolla (THH 450) seen on C5.
This next one is a bus (PXP 440) going northbound on EDSA.

Not sure if you can really see it in this pic, but this Ismael Bus Line bus, with plate number NXN 783, was spewing smoke like a James Bond car escaping from a bunch of enemy spies on EDSA at 9:38am today.
Now where are the legion of smoke belching operation cops and traffic enforcers when you need them?

Every weekend, I notice that tons of traffic enforcers end up on EDSA right before Buendia to catch smoke belchers. From what I've seen, they indiscriminately stop all types of diesel vehicles to measure their emission levels. Here are a couple of pics taken on Saturday, October 1, at 11:16am, of the vehicles they have stopped.
There must've been around 20 or more vehicles.

Anyway, I really applaud their efforts in enforcing the law, but shouldn't they concentrate on enforcing other laws that would make traffic flow better? I mean, there are already mechanisms to catch vehicles that do not meet emission standards during the annual registration. Plus, a lot of the vehicles being stopped don't even belch smoke. If you use diesel, they'll flag you down. And it just causes more traffic.

The question is that are they really serious about this thing, or is this just an excuse for them to rake in the tong?

Anyway, this northbound Superlines bus (no. 977 with plate number DFW-286) was seen in the morning of September 9. Well, the smoke would have probably prevented you from seeing it if you were directly behind it.
Now, isn't there an annual emmissions test that's a pre-requisite for renewal of the registration? I know a lot of friends who've failed this and have had to spend a some money just to pass this. And for the past few weeks, I've seen the MMDA stop a lot of vehicles on EDSA for some on-the-spot emmissions testing.

So, with all this, how can vehicles like this still get away with it?
