Saw this convoy of 2 bike cops, an Expedition with plate number ZBL-788, and a Revo with plate number XLW-309 on EDSA yesterday around 11:45am. The two vehicles had blinkers inside the front grill, which is now the de facto standard after the government "pretended" to crack down on their use a year or so back.

Saw this convoy last night on EDSA around 6:50pm just after Pasay Rd. Two PNP bike cops escorting a whole bunch of SUVs and vans, complete with blinkers and sirens, were speeding on the outermost yellow lane and passed by a couple of MMDA enforcers, who just waved them through.
Unfortunately, I couldn't get a clear shot, but the vehicles were definitely sporting green plates (well, those that had plates attached, anyway.) Giving them the benefit of the doubt, the vehicles might have been ferrying either the Senate President or the Speaker of the House.

Obviously, these guys are bodyguards. Anyway, there they were driving along Ayala going up the flyover to EDSA with their blinkers and hazards on. Then this bike cop pulls up beside them and exchanges a few words with them. Instead of pulling them over because of illegal use of blinkers, he ends up acting as an escort.

Just found out about this when I was looking up articles for today's traffic news roundup.

Anyway, did a search and found this article on Abante. seems like the TMG launched this project last October. So if you see a vehicle sporting blinkers, wangwangs, or other similar gadgets, you can text the plate number to 0928-3982873 or 0916-9660244.

Again, only the the following can use these gadgets on their duly-registered vehicles:
1. President of the Philippines
2. Vice President
3. Senate President
4. Speaker of the House
5. Chief Justice
6. Police
7. Ambulances

I suppose all Presidential Security Group vehicles are also allowed to use them, although they aren't on the list.

MMDA looking for a few good men
As a result of the early retirement of around 3,500 workers, the MMDA is set to hire around 4,000 new employees, including enforcers, engineers and construction workers. Sure hope the 3,500 includes slackers and kotong enforcers. Maybe they should consider hiring traffic analysts and industrial engineers as well, so they could better improve traffic flow.

PNCC strike tomorrow at the Skyway
Avoid the Skyway tomorrow morning, as employees of the PNCC are planning to stage a strike starting at 6am to protest the termination of some of their employees as a result of it's privatization.

TMG reports 2007 performance
According to this article, the TMG has done well this year cracking down on car thieves. It also says that they have confiscated 100 sirens, four blinkers and 116 fog lights because of the TMG’s Text Wangwang project.

Saw this blinker-equipped Lockheed Security AUV heading northbound on EDSA earlier this evening. Is this allowed?
As far as I know, only duly-marked government vehicles and duly-registered emergency vehicles are allowed the use of blinkers.

Are these allowed?
If it were a four number blue plate, which is what the local ambassadors use, then I would understand.

Saw this Accord on SLEX going southbound at around 5:18pm, with his blinkers on (which, unfortunately, I was not able to take a pic despite several attempts).

Anyways, the car didn't have government plates.

Saw this Revo (XKD 614) on EDSA early today, sporting blinkers.
Seems like a bodyguard car, as he was trying to catch up with the black Expedition in the pic.

Saw this Nissan Patrol with two motorcycle-riding cops as escorts sporting blinkers on Shaw, heading towards EDSA. Nag-counter flow pa!
I wonder who this guy is, thinking that he is high and mighty enough to ignore the law? Hindi kaya s'ya nahihiya sa ginagawa n'yang 'to?

Saw this Corolla hatchback on EDSA earlier tonight. Ang kapal talaga!

Saw this Ford Ranger in Ayala Alabang this morning.
This is actually the second sighting of this particular vehicle, as they were seen before on EDSA, as recorded in a previous post. The Cadillac Escalade was actually right behind the Ranger.

I wonder who this guy is? More importantly, I wonder how he gets away with openly violating our traffic laws?

This is a classic example of government abuse. They should really come down hard on this guy.

Saw this Pajero on Dona Soledad in Better Living at around 6:02pm.
Aside from sporting blue-and-red blinkers inside his front grill, he actually was trying to start a counter-flow, despite the fact that there were already cars going the other way on the lane he was trying to transfer to. Tapos, siya pa ang galit! Ang kapal talaga!

Saw this Paranaque City police car at the Bicutan interchange last Tuesday, October 4, at around 6:58pm. When I first saw the car, the blinkers weren't turned on, but after around 3 minutes of waiting for the our turn to cross the intersection, they suddenly turned on their blinkers and sounding their siren.
It was pretty obvious that he turned on his wang-wang because he was getting kinda impatient. And it got worse. When the traffic finally got moving, this guy suddenly makes a u-turn in a no u-turn area. I mean, policemen should follow the rules, just like everybody else, as long as they aren't catching criminals or something.

Driving soutbound on EDSA last night at around 7:55pm, I saw a couple of white X-Trails driving like crazy. And one of them had a different kind of blinker inside his grill. Instead of the usual blue and red lights flashing like crazy, these were both white. Not sure if this qualifies them as regular blinkers, and as such, is illegal, or as some sorta fancy hazard lights. I guess this is something that the MMDA and the local government has to clarify so that their enforcers would know what to do when they encounter them.
