Actually I am for completely removing this stupid UVVRP...it's just a temporary solution to traffic problems that is beginning to be permanent ...tagal na nito, di pa sila naka isip ng more permanent solution? ang cause ng major traffic dito sa Metro Manila ay disciplina ng mga public utility at some private drivers...mga jeep/FX/taxi na nakatigil sa mga intersection habang naghihintay ng pasahero...mga jeep/Fx/taxi na nagbaba at nagsasakay sa mga intersections...mga bus na babalandra ng pahalang para magbaba at magsakay ng pasahero...yan ang sanhi ng mga maraming traffic problem dito...ang dami kong kakilala na nagbilihan ng pangalawang sasakyan para maiwasan ang UVVRP...so ano useless din...

i believe the first step here will be to increase the mass transit systems first, then reduce the existing PUVs. next, enforcement of driving discipline should be done to remove other traffic causes, such as merging traffic (which is exacerbated by singits), following lane lines and fast/overtaking lane rules, etc. also, road maintenance technology has to be improved to reduce the turnaround time for road maintenance. once this has been achieved, then UVVRP can be removed.

however, you also need to remember that the above will only benefit the major thoroughfares, not the smaller roads such as those inside the Makati CBD and the like, where there are little to no PUVs. removing UVVRP will definitely increase the volume of vehicles traversing these roads.

i totally agree with you sir. as much as it is a comfort that we don't have to worry of the UVVRP, it's also a pain to think that a lot of cars will be roaming the streets again. I thought it was just for the holy week, apparently it's up to June.
