Caught this convoy yesterday morning at around 10:41am on EDSA. It was a 3-car convoy, with a Toyota Revo (WMR 922), a Cadillac Escalade (XRJ 525) and a Ford Ranger (XNP 637), all of which had wang-wangs.
In the first place, the use of flashers are limited to government and emergency vehicles, which these are obviously not. Second, if they requre official escorts, then they should get escorts with official vehicles. Third, being private vehicles, they obviously should keep on the non-yellow lanes, as there wasn't much traffic really. Last, if he can afford a Cadillac, then he can obviously afford to rent, or even buy, a helicopter.

Bottom line, nobody should be above the law, even if you're the richest man in the world, or know the president or chief of police personally. And if this guy's a government official, then he should set the example by following even the smallest rule and be beyond reproach.

helicopter landings are very limited here in the country, thus for a very important individual whose time is more important than ours could do a little evil to do more good... government VIPs have very little time to waste... if they follow everything by the book ba lalong abutin ng siyam siyam yun mga gawain nila...

You'll be surprised. Most government compounds that these so-called VIPs are supposed to go to to conduct their official functions are equipped with the appropriate landing areas.

Also, hindi ako'ng maniwala na sobrang dami sila'ng ginagawa, mas lalo na yung mga senador at congresista. Ang haba-haba ng kanilang breaks in-between their sessions. If they really have tons to do, then they should reduce these intermissions.

The point here is that these officials are supposed to set the example.

Also, I don't believe that their time is more important than any other citizen of this country. In fact, we pay their salaries. They serve our needs.

Ditto.

If you're/what you're doing is so important that you can't be two minutes late for anything, wag maging pasaway sa daan at kumuha ng helicopter. (See Lucio Tan). Hindi kami magagalit. And no, I also don't think that "government VIPs have little time to waste" ... why do these old people waste a lot of time arguing about trivial things a group of kids could figure out.
